Luke Wins Best Of Breed
June 3rd marked the Southern Alberta Rabbit Breeder Association’s annual spring show, with this year’s title being “Suns Out Buns Out.”
My sister and I woke up extra early and made the short 2.5-hour drive up to Camp Chestermere with Luke (Hot Crossed Buns Saint Laurent) in tow.
After the Kalispell show at the end of April, we weren’t sure what to expect, especially with so many more Hollands entered at Chestermere. That said, I am absolutely ECSTATIC with how Luke did! I couldn’t believe my ears when the judge said “the senior broken buck will be our best of breed.”
Here’s a quick rundown of our successful Saturday!
In Show A, Luke won his first ever ribbon after being named BOSV by judge Mary Jo Terry.

Show B saw Luke win BOSV, as well as BOSB! A huge thank you to judge Gene Gillespie for awarding my little buck with his first BOSB.
The most exciting results of the day were delivered by judge Stephen Hultholm, who named Luke BOV and BOB!
All in all, the Chestermere show was an amazing experience and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
Just like the Kalispell show, we made some new friends, some of which ended up winning Best In Show with their rabbits!
Congratulations to everyone who participated. A big thank you to the show organizers for ensuring everything ran smoothly and efficiently.
Of course, I also want to give a massive shout-out and thank-you to the judges: Mary Jo Terry, who came out all the way from Texas; Gene Gillespie, who joined us from Missouri; and Stephen Hultholm, who made the road trip from a little further north in Alberta.
If time allows, I hope to come to the fall SARBA show! Good luck to all of our new friends this show season.
